- •1. All patients undergoing routine elective thoracic surgery especially open thoracotomy procedure with patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) and epipleural insertion
- •2. Provision of written informed consent
- •3. Aged 18 years or over

- •1. Patients who are having epidural anaesthesia
- •2. Patients undergoing emergency operation
- •3. Refusal to take part in the study
