The rural sector is an essential component of any country’seconomy, and it is characterized by a large number of workers involved invarious activities such as agriculture, forestry, and small-scale industries. Sawmills,sugar cane, and bidi workers are among the workers in the rural sector who arefrequently exposed to hazardous working conditions that can negatively impacttheir health. These workers are at a higher risk of developing respiratory andcardiovascular diseases due to prolonged exposure to dust, smoke, and otherharmful substances. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of yoga asana and Pranayamaon cardiopulmonary functions in sawmills, sugar cane, and bidi workers in therural sector. 120 workers were randomly assigned to a yogaor control group. The yoga group underwent a 12-week program of yogasana and Pranayama,while the control group continued their usual activities. Cardiopulmonaryfunctions were assessed at baseline and after the intervention usingspirometry, peak expiratory flow rate, and pulse oximetry.  Theresults may show that the yoga & pranayama group significantly improvedspirometry parameters, peak expiratory flow rate, and pulse oximetry readingscompared to the control group.

  • Sawmill, Sugar cane, and Bidi workers aged between
  • Minimum Exposures of 5 yrs and above.
  • Those who have respiratory symptoms like breathlessness and cough.

排除标准

  • Sawmill, Sugar cane, and Bidi workers between 20yrs to 40yrs
  • Sawmill, Sugar cane, and Bidi workers not exposed <5 yrs
  • Bidi workers who are bidi smokers (Confounder)
  • Sawmill, Sugar cane, and Bidi workers with HTN, Metabolic disorders, and Congenital anomaly in cardio-respiration.
  • Addicted to alcohol.
