入选标准

  • Subjects undergoing left atrial appendage occlusion with deep sedation in the cardiac intervention laboratory

排除标准

  • Subjects who are unable to tolerate the high flow nasal cannula secondary to discomfort;
  • Subjects who are with aspiration risks and will require endotracheal intubation;
  • Severe obstructive sleep apnoea;
  • Subjects with anticipated difficult airway;
  • Subjects with chronic carbon dioxide retention.

研究组 & 干预措施

Two groups

high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) Optiflow THRIVE Inhalation 50 litres min-1, 30 minutes versus standard low flow nasal cannula Inhalation 4 litres min-1, 30 minutes

结局指标

主要结局

Frequency of desaturation episodes

Rate of change of arterial blood gases, including partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2), partial pressure of carbon dioxide and pH over time

Need for airway manipulation

次要结局

  • Respiratory rate
  • Tolerability
  • Postoperative outcome in the recovery unit
