简要总结
•‘Malla’ means gymnast, and ‘khamb’ means pole. Mallakhamb is combination of Yoga, Gymnastics, and Martial Arts. There are many types of Mallakhamb. To excel at a competitive level, a Mallakhamb athlete needs to demonstrate neuromuscular control, discipline, concentration and self-motivation. The performers execute turn, twist, stretch, balance exercises on the pole during training and competition. Various poses are marked at competitive levels according to the code of points of mallakhamb federation of India. Proprioception is essential for motor control and joint stability during sports practice.
Need of Study - Strength and balance plays a vital role in this sport as the poses involve holding body weight as well as transitioning from 1 pose to another on extremities against gravity with efficiency. A study done by Masumi Shah to evaluate the normative fitness data in sub elite adolescent Mallakhamb players which concluded that mallakhamb athletes need to emphasize on core and upper limb strength, upper limb balance in order to perform better. Therefore the need of this study arise to see the effectiveness of upper limb proprioception training on balance and strength in Mallakhamb players.
Outcome Measures - 1.Handstand test (HST) - To assess upper extremity balance. 2.Seated medicine ball throw test (SMBTT)- To measure upper body strength.
