From the early 1970slaparoscopic procedures became well established because of its advantages likereduced post operative pain, improved cosmesis, reduced hospital stay.
Despite its advantages,laparoscopic surgeries have its own demerits due to pneumoperitoneum andpositional changes. Pneumoperitoneum causes alteration in cardiorespiratoryphysiology like reduced thoracopulmonary compliances, reduced functionalresidual capacity(FRC), increased arterial pressures, increased systemicvascular resistance and pulmonary vascular resistance. Plasma catecholamines and vasopressin levelsincreases during pneumoperitoneum which is associated with changes in totalperipheral resistance. Trendelenburgposition and Carbon dioxide(CO2)causes hemodynamic stress.
Various pharmacologicalagents like nitroglycerine, beta blocker, magnesium sulphate and opioids areused to provide hemodynamic stability during pneumoperitoneum with their ownlimitations.
Alpha-2 (α2)adrenergic agonists have shown the promising result in maintaining the baselinehemodynamic parameters during laparoscopic surgeries with minimal adverseeffects. Alpha-2 (α2) adrenergic agonists are useful in attenuating thehemodynamic responses produced by pneumoperitoneum. But not many studies havebeen done studying the comparative effect of these two drugs especially inlaparoscopic onco-surgeries. Hence this study is being taken up to compare intravenousdexmedetomidine and clonidine on haemodynamic response in laparoscopic lowerabdominal onco-surgeries.

- •Patients aged between 18 – 60 years Patients belonging to ASA Grade I and II.
排除标准
- •Patient refusal Patient age below 18 years and above 65 years Patient belonging to ASA grade III and IV Patients on beta-blockers.
- •Patients with cardiac dysfunction, hepatic, renal disease.
- •Patients with psychiatric disorders.
- •Patients with allergic disorders.
