Expanding Access to Novel Microbiome Therapy
VOWST represents the first and only FDA-approved orally administered live biotherapeutic product indicated to prevent recurrent C. difficile infection (搜索) in individuals 18 years of age and older following antibacterial treatment for rCDI (搜索). Currently approved only in the United States, the therapy addresses a critical gap in treatment options for patients facing this potentially life-threatening infection.
Under the licensing agreement, the companies will work jointly to pursue regulatory approval in Europe, with IdB obtaining commercialization rights across European markets upon approval. The infection can be difficult to manage with limited treatment options currently available. VOWST is specifically designed to prevent recurrence rather than treat active infections, representing a preventive approach to managing this challenging condition.

IdB Holding, a privately owned Italian life sciences group headquartered in Milan, brings extensive experience in pharmaceutical development and commercialization across Europe. The company includes two operating subsidiaries: Indena, with global presence spanning multiple continents, and Scharper (搜索), operating in Italy.
