Sava Technologies Achieves 10-Day Continuous Glucose Monitoring Milestone with Next-Generation Microsensor Platform

Sava Technologies (搜索) has raised $19 million in Series A funding to accelerate development of its breakthrough multi-molecule biosensor platform, following clinical trial results that demonstrated world-first performance in continuous glucose monitoring. The round was led by Balderton Capital (搜索) and Pentland Ventures (搜索), with participation from new investors Norrsken VC (搜索) and JamJar Investments (搜索), alongside existing backers including True, Italian Founders Fund, and Athletico Ventures.
Clinical Breakthrough in Microsensor Technology
The London-based company's latest clinical trial, conducted independently across sites in Oxford and Cambridge, enrolled 50 patients with Type 1 and insulin-dependent Type 2 diabetes (搜索). Early results from the first 25 patients revealed that Sava's proprietary technology delivered reliable, accurate glucose readings for up to 10 days of continuous wear—a milestone no other microsensor platform has achieved to date.
"Most microsensor systems fail to last 5 days, and many struggle beyond 24 hours," the company noted. The trial was designed in collaboration with leading diabetes (搜索) clinicians and regulators, providing a critical foundation for future regulatory submissions and Sava's pivotal study set to launch in the coming year.

Addressing Market Access Barriers
Currently, only 1% of people with diabetes (搜索) use continuous glucose monitors, despite the technology generating over $11 billion in annual sales with 10% year-on-year growth. Existing devices are often painful, expensive, and inaccessible, creating significant barriers to adoption.

Multi-Biomarker Platform Strategy
Founded in 2019 by Imperial College London bioengineers Renato Circi and Rafaël Michali, Sava has developed a modular, multi-analyte sensing platform capable of detecting biomarkers just beneath the skin in real-time. While glucose monitoring represents the first commercial application, the platform is designed to track multiple molecules simultaneously.

Commercial Expansion Plans
The latest funding brings Sava's total raised capital to $32 million, with backing from leading venture capital firms, returning angel investors, and funding from the EU and UK Government. The company has rapidly expanded to over 60 employees, including experts behind market-leading CGMs.
The new capital will support further expansion of Sava's team, advance automated manufacturing capabilities to reach target launch volumes, and accelerate clinical validation of its microsensor technology. With growing interest among athletes and health-conscious consumers, Sava is positioned to tap into the global wearables market projected to exceed $100 billion by 2029.
