Authorities warned that the potential danger to any person who may possess, handle, or consume the stolen drug is significant and should be treated as a serious public safety concern. Chief Charles noted that some of the stolen substances "are commonly mixed with heroin and/or fentanyl to exacerbate the effects, which are 'NOT' reversible using Narcan or Naloxone."
The police chief further cautioned that the medications "are intended strictly for veterinary use and can be extremely dangerous, and potentially fatal, if used by anyone for whom they were not prescribed." He added that many of the stolen medications may be sought by individuals struggling with substance use disorder or used experimentally.
Risk of Dangerous Interactions
Police said the substances can be especially dangerous when combined with alcohol, illegal drugs, or other prescription medications, greatly increasing the risk of medical emergency, overdose, or death. Falls Road Veterinary Clinic (搜索) posted on its Facebook page that no animals or humans were harmed during the break-in.
Investigation Details
The forced-entry burglary and theft was reported at 6:45 a.m. Friday at the clinic at 475 Farmington Falls Road, known as U.S. Route 2 and Route 27. Chief Charles said his office is working with state and federal law enforcement on the break-in, though he did not release details on the other drugs taken. Police have released no additional details on the break-in.
