Study Overview
Brief Summary
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a common chronic gastrointestinal disorder that significantly affects the quality of life of affected individuals. Despite the availability of conventional treatment, many patients continue to experience persistent symptoms, emphasizing the need for individualized therapeutic approaches. Homoeopathy emphasizes individualized treatment based on the totality of symptoms, and repertorization forms the foundation of remedy selection.
This prospective, open-label, single-arm clinical study is designed to evaluate the utility of A Clinical Repertory to the Dictionary of Materia Medica by Dr. J. H. Clarke as a repertorial tool in the management of cases of gastroesophageal reflux disease. Patients fulfilling the eligibility criteria will be enrolled from the outpatient department of the institution. Detailed homoeopathic case taking will be carried out for each patient, followed by repertorial analysis using A Clinical Repertory to the Dictionary of Materia Medica by Dr. J. H. Clarke for the prescription of individualized homoeopathic medicines.
The outcome of the study will be assessed using a validated GERD symptom score, namely the GERD-Q scale, at baseline and during follow-up over a period of six months. The study also aims to observe the clinical presentation of gastroesophageal reflux disease in the study population. The results of this study may help establish the clinical utility of A Clinical Repertory to the Dictionary of Materia Medica by Dr. J. H. Clarke in the individualized homoeopathic management of GERD.
