Inclusion Criteria
Adults 18 years of age and older undergoing awake flexible bronchoscopy
Hemodynamically stable
Patients in whom bronchial washing airway inspection or bronchoalveolar lavage is planned
Exclusion Criteria
a) Pregnancy
b) Not giving informed consent for the procedure
c) Hypoxemia (oxygen saturation [by pulse oximetry] < 92% with Fio2 of >= 0.3
d) Patients with documented history of hypersensitivity to lidocaine
e) Bronchoscopy performed through endotracheal or tracheostomy tube
f) Patients in whom transbronchial needle aspiration or biopsies are planned
