1)Males in the age group of 18-65 years
2)Group I : diagnosed of alcohol dependence by the treating psychiatrist, based on The ICD-10 (the 10th revision of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases ) Classification of Mental and Behavioural Disorders : Diagnostic Criteria for research of WHO .1,2 currently using substance and smokers
3) Group II : diagnosed of alcohol dependence by the treating psychiatrist, based on The ICD-10, DCR of WHO .1,2 currently using substance and non-smokers.
4) Group I(a) & Group II (a) : diagnosed of alcohol dependence by the treating psychiatrist, based on The ICD-10, DCR of WHO .1,2 currently abstinence, smokers and non-smokers, respectively.
5) Group III : Age matched, apparently healthy non-alcoholic, non smoker male volunteers
1)Age : < 18 years and > 65 years.(all groups)
2)Use of substances (control group)
3)Systemic illness: Non alcoholic liver disease, kidney disease, cancer, inflammatory diseases, infections, etc.(all groups)
4)Lost for follow up or those who withdrew from study(all groups)
