This study aims to evaluate the effect of three different pranayama techniques — Bhramari Pranayama, Om Chanting, and Nadi Shodhana Pranayama — on fine motor coordination among undergraduate medical students. Fine motor skills are essential in clinical practice, and yoga-based breathing practices have been shown to improve autonomic regulation, attention, and neuromuscular control.

A total of 150 healthy volunteers (75 males and 75 females) aged 18–24 years will be randomly allocated into three groups of 50 each. Group A will practice Bhramari Pranayama (10 minutes daily), Group B will practice Om Chanting (10 minutes daily), and Group C will practice Nadi Shodhana Pranayama (10 minutes daily), for 7 consecutive days.

The primary outcome will be the change in Tweezer Dexterity Score (TDS), measured as the number of cylindrical pins placed within 4 minutes, recorded at baseline (Day 1) and post-intervention (Day 7). Within-group comparisons and between-group analyses will be performed to assess improvement in dexterity. Gender differences will also be explored.

The findings are expected to identify which pranayama technique is most effective in enhancing fine motor coordination, with potential implications for improving psychomotor readiness in medical education.

入选标准

  • Undergraduate and postgraduate medical students of age group (18 to 30 years old) who should be free from any acute and chronic diseases.
  • Participants who are willing to participate.
  • Participants with no prior training in Pranayama or Meditation.
  • No Vision impairment and Hand Function.

排除标准

  • Participants who are not willing to participate in the study.
  • Participants who are already practicing pranayama on regular basis.
  • Participants who have a history of any neurological or musculoskeletal disorders.
  • Participants who are using stimulants or sedatives.
  • Participants with acute illness or recent surgery.
  • Participants with High stress periods or Sleep Deprivation.
  • Participants with psychiatric or Psychological conditions.
