Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • ASA class 1(without any comorbid condition) and 2(with controlled comorbid condition) patient undergoing elective general surgeries under general anaesthesia.
  • Patient who give informed written consent.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Patient unable to understand study protocol or refused to take part in it.
  • Patient of ASA class 3,4,5\.
  • Patient on beta blockers, antidepressants,anxiolytics, anticonvulsant, antipsychotic.
  • Patient with physical dependence on narcotics, known drug allergy to dexmedetomidine.
  • Patient with anticipated difficult airway or those in whom laryngoscopy time exceeded 15 seconds
