Soccer is a very complex sport, it requires strength, speed, agility and balance.

Proprioception is the central nervous system process of determining the relative position/ movement of limbs/ trunk while balancing. Proprioceptive training is defined as “a series of exercise or situation that elicit a response from the nervous system in order to counteract external stimuli”

Plyometrics, a widely used training method among athletes in various sports disciplines, focuses on developing strength and explosiveness. This technique involves the rapid stretching (eccentric movement) of muscles followed immediately by their shortening (concentric movement).  Soccer players has to move fast, requires changes in direction quickly in various directions and balance, so the present study focuses on improving the speed, agility and balance in soccer players. This research will give insight to athletes, coaches and trainers to follow more effective training protocol.

Objectives: To determine the comparative effect of Proprioceptive training vs Plyometric training on improving :- (1) Speed, (2) Agility and (3) Balance.

a.       Study Procedures: The 45 participants will be divided into 3 groups : Group 1 : Proprioceptive training group n=15,  Group 2 : Plyometric training group n=15 Group 3 : Control group n=15.  The training intervention will be given for 8 weeks with 2 session per week. Pre and Post training tests will be conducted before and after the implentation of the training program.  All test will be conducted on a grass field under suitable conditions.  Participants will be instructed to wear the same athletic gear during testing sessions.   Measurements will be taken at the same time of day during two testing sessions to minimize the effects of daily fluctuations on selected parameters.   Participants will be also provided with information regarding rest during the training and testing processes to mitigate any factors that could affect the study results.

入选标准

  • Male soccer players
  • Adolescent soccer players with age group of 11-18 years
  • Participants playing soccer for at least 2 years.

排除标准

  • Subjects with any self-reported lower extremity or spine pathology which had required medical attention in the past 6 months.
  • Subjects with any self-reported vestibular problems, visual disturbances or any associated neurological problems presently.
  • Subjects already performing any proprioceptive or plyometric exercises.
