ASA 1 children aged 5-15 years undergoing elective surgical procedures who have given informed consent prior for the study.
1.Children who are developmentally abnormal, in view of risk of aspiration.
2.Children preexisting abnormal anatomy of the upper gastrointestinal tract.
3.Children diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux disease.
4.Children with Body Mass Index >30
5.Children diagnosed with gastric obstruction.
6.Children with previous history of aspiration.
7.Children with previous history of esophageal/gastric surgery.
8.Children with history of gastrointestinal bleed within last 6 months

- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method To compare the increase in the gastric volume after 1 hour of pre-procedural drink(carbohydrate or water) from that of after 6-8hrs of fasting in both groups, assessed ultrasonographically.Timepoint: Gastric ultrasound will be done immediately before fluid, immediately after fluid, 30 mins and 1 hour after drinking fluid.

Name Time Method 1.To compare blood glucose levels. <br/ ><br>2.To compare Gastric pH in both groups. <br/ ><br>3.To evaluate parental and childâ??s satisfaction scores in both the groups. <br/ ><br>4.To compare the quality of emergence from anesthesia. <br/ ><br>5.To compare the incidence of PONV in both the groups. <br/ ><br> <br/ ><br>Timepoint: 1.GRBS will be checked immediatly before induction, one hour after induction and immediate postop. <br/ ><br>2.Gatric pH will be measured one minute after induction. <br/ ><br>3.Satisfaction scores will be measured one hour after extubation in recovery. <br/ ><br>4.Emergence will be assesed during extubation and one hour after extubation. <br/ ><br>5.PONV will be assesed using apfel score postop.
