1. Expected blood loss > 500 ml.
2. Highly vascular meningioma based on CT/ MRI/ DSA.
Patients with bilateral head injury (similar extent of injury on opposite side),
Patients with baseline heart rate > 100 bpm after intubation and fluid resuscitation,
Patients on treatment with beta blockers, clonidine,neostigmine, atropine, glycopyrrolate,
Patients with known drug allergy to local anaesthetics,
Pregnancy,
Patients with cardiac arrhythmias,
Duration of surgery < 1 hr,
Baseline Haemoglobin (Hb) < 8g/dl,
Patients refusing to give consent
