Eligible infants will be those with gestational age (GA) 26 to 42 weeks at birth who are admitted to a participating NICU during the study enrollment period and are scheduled to receive a medically necessary heel prick (Trial 1), PIV needle placement (Trial 2), or eye exam for ROP (Trial 3) procedure while at < 30 days of life or < 44 weeks corrected GA. Parents will be approached for consent and only infants whose parents provide consent will be included.
Infants will be excluded if they are receiving sedatives, opioids, or muscle relaxants or are critically ill or dying.
