Ultrasound-guided versus landmark-guided suprascapular nerve block in periarthritis shoulder: A prospective randomized controlled study

简要总结

This study is prospective randomized, parallel group, single centered, comparing the efficacy of ultrasound guided and landmark guided suprascapular nerve block in periarthritis shoulder using injection triamcinolone . the primary outcome is to assess and compare pain relief at defined follow-up intervals using the Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS) in both groups after intervention. The secondary outcome measure will be to compare improvement in functional outcomes using the Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI) in both groups after intervention and to evaluate and compare complications or adverse effects in both groups after intervention. The defined follow up interval is immediate post procedure, 2 weeks and 6 weeks

入选标准

  • Complaints of spontaneous onset of shoulder pain and stiffness for four weeks along with night pain that was interfering with sleep and painful restriction of both active and passive shoulder abduction and external rotation (ER) of more than 50 percent of the normal range with no joint crepitus on examination of the joint and had a normal glenohumeral joint X-ray.
  • Consenting to participate.

排除标准

  • Tear of rotator cuff on clinical/radiological examination.
  • Traumatic or degenerative pathology of shoulder joint.
  • Any chronic neurological disorder
  • Local corticosteroid injection to shoulder joint within the last 3 weeks.
  • Any surgical intervention, dislocations, fractures in the affected shoulder.
  • History of past or concurrent malignancy.
  • Patient with cholecystitis and sub-diaphragmatic disease.
