Inclusion Criteria

I. Patients without systemic diseases or conditions that could influence therapy outcome

II. Patients who are not taking any medication that would affect periodontal healing

III. High standards of oral hygiene (Oâ??Leary et al.: plaque control record [PCR] <20%)

IV. compliance with the maintenance program

V. presence of at least one infrabony defect with a PD >= 6 mm after reevaluation of the hygienic phase and an infrabony component of >=3 mm as detected on radiographs and exhibiting a 1- or 2-wall infrabony defect

VI. presence of at least 2 mm of keratinized tissue on the buccal aspect of the selected tooth

VII. Teeth have to be vital or properly treated endodontically

Exclusion Criteria

1) Heavy smokers ( >10 cigarettes/day)

2) teeth with Class II or III furcation involvement(Glickman classification)

3) mobility >grade II(Glickman classification)

4) Strictly or predominantly 3-wall defects
