Healthy volunteers: no further
Cancer patients:
- systemic tumor disease currently requiring treatment (systemic: leukemia, lymphoma (stage >I), myelodysplastic syndrome/myeloproliferative neoplasia, metastasized solid tumor)
- scheduled inpatient stay of at least 3 days
Healthy individuals:
- any condition requiring medication currently or less than one month ago
- regular intake of medication, including oral contraceptives (excluding vitamins)
- currently or less than two months ago smoking, alcohol or substance abuse
- anemia (hemoglobin peripheral blood, determined by patient history, <10g/dl (female) or <11g/dl (male) within the last year)
- symptomatic hypotonia (blood pressure regularly or several times below 100/60 mmHg)
- collapse or syncope with orthostasia several times in patient history
Cancer patients:
- severe anemia (hemoglobin in the last month at least once below 7g/dl, several times below 8g/dl or currently (within 72 hours before start of study) below 9g/dl
- hypotonia (blood pressure in the last month regularly or several times below 100/60mmHg or currently 110/60mmHg)
- collapse or syncope with orthostasia several times in patient history
- IV line infection currently or less than one month ago
- intake of oral contraceptives
