ASA physical status grade 1 or 2.
Children planned for elective surgery and requiring general anaesthesia with orotracheal intubation.
Surgeries expected to last 1-3 hours.
Children with oropharyngeal or neck malformations.
Children who had previously required tracheal intubation or tracheostomy.
Presence of stridor or dysphonia.
Children requiring surgery of neck, larynx or oropharynx.
Children requiring a nasogastric or orogastric tube.
Children requiring or receiving steroid medication.
