Inclusion Criteria
- symptomatic, documented, drug-resistent paroxysmal atrial fibrillation
- effective oral anticoagulation
Exclusion Criteria
- any prior left atrial ablation procedure
- presence of left atrial thrombus
- secondary atrial fibrillation due to electrolyte imbalance or thyroid disease
- any prior oesophageal or gastric surgery
