Inclusion Criteria
For patients (Part I, RCT):
- Patients scheduled for elective abdominal surgery
- Ability of subject to understand character and individual consequences of the study
- Written informed consent
- Age =18 years
Exclusion Criteria
For patients (Part I, RCT):
- American Association of Anesthesiologists (ASA) grade > 3
- Pregnant or lactating women
- Language barrier that impedes follow-up
- Participation in another intervention-trial with interference of intervention and outcome of this study
