•Inclusion criteria
•a). An informed consent________________________________
•b). Elective open heart surgery including coronary artery bypass surgery under cardiopulmonary bypass for left main or triple vessel disease and other elective cardiac surgeries.______________________________________
•c). Normal preoperative sinus rhythm____________________________________

•Exclusion criteria
•a). Previous history of supraventricular arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation, or atrial flutter;

•b). __Bradycardia or a heart rate less than 50 beats/min (bpm); ________________________________________________________
•c). __A second-degree or third-degree atrioventricular block;

•d). ___evere chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or pulmonary impairment;
•e). Known hypersensitivity to Î²-blockers or ivabradine;
•f). An ejection fraction less than 30% (limiting eligibility to the beta blocker group).
