- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Effects of Structured Breathing on Mental Health From enrollment to end of treatment at 4 months To assess the immediate and long-term effects of structured breathing on clinical symptoms related to mental health.
Changes and effects will be measured via questionnaire completion at baseline, 2 month, and 4 month intervals.
Overall mental health will be assessed based on an aggregate of results from Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI), General Health Questionnaire (GHQ), Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), General Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7), Perceived Stress Scale, Professional Fulfillment Index (PFI), Linear Analog Self-Assessment (LASA), and Brief Resilience Scale (BRS).Effects of Structured Breathing on Sleep Quality From enrollment to the end of treatment at 4 months To assess the immediate and long-term effects of structured breathing on clinical symptoms related to sleep quality.
This outcome will be measured via questionnaire completion at baseline, 2 month, and 4 month intervals. Questionnaires include Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Modified Fatigue Impact Scale (MFIS).
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Structured Breathing Effects on Cerebral Circulation From enrollment to the end of treatment at 4 months To evaluate the immediate and long-term effects of structured breathing on local tissue oxygen delivery and cerebral circulation in breathing training group.
These effects will be measured utilizing fNIRS (functional near-infrared spectroscopy) technology, which measures changes in oxygenated blood. Pre-and-post intervention fNIRS testing will demonstrate how structured breathing influences cerebral circulation and oxygenation in the brain.
