1.Term gestation (37 weeks 0 days and 41 weeks 6 days) with labor.
2.Spontaneous onset of labor.
3.Singleton pregnancy.
4.Vertex presentation.
5.Cervical dilatation of less than or equal to 4cm in first per vaginal examination.
6.Absence of significant co-morbidities such as antepartum or postpartum hemorrhage, uncontrolled diabetes, preeclampsia, eclampsia, severe anemia (Hb less than 7 g/dL).
7.Absence of significant medical or surgical morbidities.
1.Emergency caesarean section (those initially enrolled will be excluded).
2.Previous caesarean section.
3.Major congenital malformation either diagnosed before birth or after birth.
4.Severe adverse neonatal outcomes as defined by the following
a.Intrapartum stillbirth.
b.Need for neonatal cardiopulmonary resuscitation requiring PPV for 30 seconds or more or chest compressions.
c.Neonatal death at less than 72 hours of age.
