- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Changes in the gastrointestinal microbiome compared between the groups using stool samples (analysis of 16S rRNA via next generation sequencing (NGS)) preoperatively, on day 3-5 after surgery and after 3 months.
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method - Effects on patient outcome (parameters: occurrence and severity of postoperative complications (evaluation of clinical data, severity classification using the Clavien/Dindo classification), length of ICU stay, length of hospital stay)<br>- Effects on the immune system (leukocyte populations: analysis via flow cytometry preoperatively, as well as postoperatively on day 1, day 3-5 (depending on stool sample collection date) and after 3 months)
