1) Women who had natural menopause at the age of 45 years and above ( < 70 years)
2) Patient who has been diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency <20 ng/ml
1) Renal failure/liver failure/intestinal malabsorption/ seizure disorder/ antiepileptic drugs/ pancreatic disorder, on steroid therapy, cholestyramine and on hormonal replacement therapy
2) Any supplementation / preparation with cholecalciferol > 1000 IU/day or active vitamin D (calcitriol)
3) Any patient who has been receiving loading doses of cholecalciferol in the last 6 months
4) Not willing to give informed consent

Name Time Method Increase in serum vitamin D levels of post menopausal womenTimepoint: The serum levels of vitamin D will be checked at baseline, after every two weeks of supplementation and after 12 weeks of supplementation
