Brief Summary

Skinto skin and breast crawl have been shown to provide multiple benefits to themother and the new born [1-4]. Premature neonates are often not provided earlyskin to skin because of the anticipation for need for resuscitation. TheCochrane review on skin to skin after birth recommends that more studies needto be conducted to find the effects of this process [5]. There are multiplebenefits of skin to skin care listed in the Cochrane review including thermalbenefits, breastfeeding benefits, emotional benefits, etc. There is a need toexplore the feasibility of this practice in preterm infants. It is alsonecessary to find out what steps are needed to ensure that this is regularlypracticed. It is also pertinent to find out the responses of all thestakeholders involved to get an idea of the comfort level to adapt to change
