Inclusion Criteria

ASA I and II patients with hip fracture about to undergo surgery under combined spinal epidural block

Exclusion Criteria

Known case of diabetes mellitus, pheochromocytoma, carcinoid tumor etc.

H/o pancreatitis, alcoholism, jaundice or liver disorders

Contraindications to CSE administration like bleeding disorders, deranged

coagulation profile, local site infection, neurological or spinal disease etc.

Obesity(BMI >30 kg/m2)

Patients at an increased risk of aspiration eg., those with history of gastrooesophageal

reflux, gastric outlet/ intestinal obstruction, emergency surgery,

pregnant females

Patients on continuous steroid therapy for >5 days in the last one year
