The effect of giving apple juice or water two hours before surgery in comparison to the patients kept overnight fasted on patients comfort in terms of hunger, thirst, headache, well being and dry mouth and also the effect on intra operative blood sugar levels.

2)patients of either gender of age group 18-60 years
3)BMI of 18.5 â?? 24.9
4)Duration of surgeries: lasting less than 60 minutes
1)Pregnancy
2)history of delayed gastric emptying, gastrointestinal obstruction, liver cirrhosis, diabetic mellitus, hypertension, severe hepatic or renal failure, thyroid disorders, Cushingâ??s or adrenal insufficiencies.

- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method ultrasound guided gastric volume will be measured before induction.Patient will be asked on the morning of planned surgery to rate the following parameters before assigning the group and 5 minutes before induction: <br/ ><br>1.hunger, <br/ ><br>2.thirst, <br/ ><br>3.mouth dryness, <br/ ><br>4.weakness, and <br/ ><br>5.headache <br/ ><br>All these parameters will be rated on a 3-point scale (EDESP Perioperative discomfort scale) of: <br/ ><br>not bothered (0), <br/ ><br>Slightly bothered (1) and <br/ ><br>very bothered (2) <br/ ><br>Timepoint: ultrasound guided gastric volume will be measured just before induction. Patient will be asked on the morning of planned surgery to rate the following parameters before assigning the group and 5 minutes before induction. <br/ ><br>Blood Glucose: will be checked <br/ ><br>5 minutes before induction, <br/ ><br>15 minutes after induction, <br/ ><br>2 hours after induction. <br/ ><br>
