Age: 18 to 60 years
- Isolated, acute, closed or open AO/OTA 43-B or 43-C fracture as mono-injury
- Patient is able to understand the study procedure and has given written informed consent.
- Pregnancy
- Missing or incomplete clinical CT images
- Injury to the lower ankle joint
- Inflammatory arthritis or preexisting osteoarthritis in the injured ankle (previous diagnosis, obvious history, radiographic findings)
- Other disease of the injured ankle (acute or past)
- Regular use of non-steroidal or anti-inflammatory drugs
- Cortisone injection in the injured ankle within 3 months prior to trauma
- Autoimmune disease
- Immune suppression
