A study to assess the thoracic epidural anaesthesia effects on pancreatic blood flow, thereby controlling disease progression in pancreatitis patients in comparison to standard care alone

All adult patients with moderately severe acute pancreatitis admitted in JIPMER casualty within 48 hours of symptoms onset. Enrollment will be based on Modified Marshal Scoring for organ dysfunction. This score is based on
- Respiratory parameter – PaO2/FiO2
- Renal parameter – Serum creatinine
- Cardiovascular parameter- systolic BP
Each parameter will be given 0- 4 scores based on the values. A score of =2 in any one of the systems signifies organ dysfunction.
-Acute pancreatitis patients with coagulopathies, spine deformities, raised intracranial pressure, refractory hypotension, and skin infections at the site of injection.
-Patients with acute on chronic pancreatitis
-Pancreatitis patients with evidence of sepsis
-Patients with previous episodes of acute pancreatitis
-Patients with CKD whose GFR <30ml/min/BSA
