Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • •Patients belonging to American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status I \& II
  • •Patients undergoing ventriculoperitoneal shunt surgery
  • •Age group between 16 and 50 years
  • •Hemodynamically stable
  • •Patients on phenytoin therapy\>\=7 days

Exclusion Criteria

  • •History of hypertension, diabetes or other systemic illness
  • •History of drug or alcohol abuse
  • •History of chronic pain or daily intake of analgesics
  • •History of intake of nonsteroidal anti\-inï¬?ammatory drugs within 24 h before surgery
