Inclusion Criteria

Cirrhosis patients, in whom there is a clinical suspicion of SBP or ascitic fluid has more than 250 polymorphonuclear cells on microscopy will be included in this study.

Exclusion Criteria

Following patients will be excluded

Secondary bacterial peritonitis

Peritonial tuberculosis

Patient with hepto cellular carcinoma

Previous cultures positive for resistant bacteria to third generation cephalosporins

Allergy to third generation cephalosporin
