Effect of Yoga Therapy on Autonomic Variables, Clinical Signs, and Thyroid Function in Hypothyroidism: A Match-controlled Trial

The study titled Effect of Yoga Therapy on Autonomic Variables Clinical Signs and Thyroid Function in Hypothyroidism A Matched Controlled Trial by Dr Karthik P Hongal aims to evaluate the impact of yoga therapy on clinical signs autonomic variables and thyroid hormone levels in individuals with hypothyroidism This matched controlled trial involves 60 participants 30 in the treatment group and 30 in the control group aged between 18 to 45 years who have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and are on thyroid medication for 6 months to 5 years The treatment group will undergo a structured yoga program for 3 months consisting of daily 60 minute sessions six days a week beginning with 10 days of in person training followed by tele-yoga sessions The yoga protocol includes loosening exercises a variety of asanas postures pranayama breathing techniques and relaxation methods aimed at stimulating thyroid function and balancing the autonomic nervous system The control group will continue their normal daily activities Clinical effectiveness will be measured using thyroid function tests T3 T4 TSH and Zulewskis Clinical Signs Questionnaire before and after the intervention The study expects to demonstrate that yoga therapy can lead to improvements in thyroid hormone levels and clinical symptoms offering a beneficial complementary approach to managing hypothyroidism
