Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •Inpatients with a depressive episode (ICD\-10 F31, F32, F33;
- •HAMD\-21: \=17\)
- •\- Patients will only be included in the study after the study procedure has been explained in full and in detail and they have given their informed consent in writing
Exclusion Criteria
- •\- Pregnant or breastfeeding women
- •\- Drug or alcohol addiction
- •\- Dementia
- •\- Depressive episode secondary to a somatic/neurological illness or substance dependence
- •\- Severe concomitant neurological or internal illness that may falsify the test results (e.g. recent myocardial infarction, Cushing's disease, underlying rheumatic diseases)
- •\- Other additional severe psychiatric comorbidities
- •\- The patient is unable to understand the nature and scope of the study and is therefore unable to give consent.
- •\- Inclusion not voluntary
- •\- Regular systemic intake of steroids or non\-steroidal anti\-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
- •\- Incompatibility with MR measurement
