Children under 10 years of age, who were hospitalized at Chung-Ang University Hospital from March 2005 to December 2014 with clinically suspected acute appendicitis
patients who did not undergo radiological evaluation and those in which the purpose of radiological evaluation was unclear were excluded.
further patients were excluded due to prior appendectomy. In addition, patients with a gastrointestinal anomaly that caused structural misperception during radiological interpretation; patients diagnosed by CT imaging, but for whom accurate radiation dose was not recorded; and those with other gastrointestinal abnormalities, such as intussusceptions or malignancy, were excluded from the study.
