Age >= 18 years.
Prior inferior or anteroseptal MI diagnosed on the basis of a history of acute MI more than one month before with rise and/or fall of cardiac biomarkers above the 99th percentile of the upper reference limit with ST elevation in anterior or inferior leads on ECG and segmental left ventricular wall motion abnormality of the inferior or anteroseptal wall.
Moderate or severe mitral regurgitation diagnosed on the basis of vena contracta width >= 0.3 cm and/or Jet/LA area >= 20% and/or MR regurgitant volume >= 30 ml as per 2017 American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) guidelines.
Recent MI ( < 1 month)
Multiple MIs
Previous heart surgery
MR caused by organic mitral valvular lesions (including rheumatic changes, chordal or papillary muscle rupture, and infective endocarditis)
Other associated cardiac diseases, such as aortic valve or congenital heart disease.
