Inclusion Criteria

Patients with symptomatic thyroid disease who were candidates for thyroidectomy

Exclusion Criteria

Patients having any of the following:

1.American Society of Anesthesiologists

(ASA) physical class III or IV.

2.Age more than 75 years.

3.Pregnancy.

4.Intake of corticosteroids within

past 4 weeks

5.Coagulation disorders.

6.Cushing disease.

7.Uncontrolled diabetes mellitus.

8.Severe hepatic impairment.

9.Renal impairment.

10.Systemic Tuberculosis.

11.Osteoporosis.

12.Immunocompromised states.

13.Pre- existing wide angle glaucoma

14.Severe systemic bacterial, viral or

fungal infections.

15.Patients with preoperative deranged

cell counts, C reactive protein levels

or cytokine profile
