RDC/TMD version 1.0 Group II diagnosis
Exclusion Criteria
1. Use of steroid medications.
2. Currently under any other pain medications which could not be stopped for atleast 3 days.
3. Presently using an intra-oral appliance (covering the occlusal surface of any tooth)
4. Presence of any traumatic injury or other clinical problems requiring urgent care.
5. History of trauma and/or surgery to the TMJ or mandible or to any facial bones.
6. Infection in the tissues over the site to be punctured (such as an abscess or cellulitis), adjacent osteomyelitis, uncontrolled coagulopathy or suspected / proved pathology at local site.
7. Significant physical, medical or psychiatric illness or impairment which would preclude ability to comply with study protocols.
8. Patients unwilling to provide signed, informed consent for inclusion in the study.
9. Presence of concomitant non-TMD related causes of pain (ENT, neurological and/or dental causes of pain)
