All paediatric patients who present in elective and emergency operation theatres in all departments
such as orthopaedics, paediatric surgery, general surgery aged between 3 months to 18 years old.
1) Patients with a history of oesophageal or gastric surgery, upper gastrointestinal pathologies or
gastrointestinal disorders including gastro-oesophageal reflux, hiatal hernia, oesophageal stricture,
achalasia cardia, gastritis and intestinal obstruction) to be excluded.
2) Pediatric patients with a pre-existing orogastric or nasogastric tube
3) Patients who received opioids pre-operatively

Name Time Method To correlate the gastric volume and content with the fasting hours in a mixed population after variety of meals.Timepoint: baseline

Name Time Method 1)To determine the percentage of patients in paediatric population at risk ? of aspiration even <br/ ><br>after adequate hours of starvation in both elective and emergency scenario. <br/ ><br>2) To study and compare the difference in gastric volume in elective versus emergency surgery. <br/ ><br>3) To see the effect of over fasting on gastric volume.Timepoint: at baseline level
