Inclusion Criteria
Adult males, belonging to ASA grade 1 or 2, fasted as per guidelines, scheduled for
elective surgery and either taking any amount of oral opium preparation for more than
2 years or age matched patients not taking any oral opium preparation.
Exclusion Criteria
1. Gastrointestinal disease (Gastro-Esophageal Reflux, Hiatus Hernia, or Gastritis)
2. Diabetic patients3. Morbid Obese patients (BMI>35)
4. Pregnant patients
5. Previous esophageal surgeries
6. Unable to drink prescribed clear fluid

- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method 1. To compare qualitative assessment of residual gastric contents after last solid meal. <br/ ><br>2. To compare gastric emptying half time (t1/2) of clear fluids (time required for ACSA to return to half maximum value). <br/ ><br>3. To evaluate the effect of duration of opium use on gastric emptying. <br/ ><br>Timepoint: Baseline, every 5 minutes after clear fluid intake
