Both male & female
Subjects with COPD meeting the GOLD diagnostic criteria
Age 20 -60years
Haemoptysis of unknown origin [as forced expiratory maneuvre may aggravate the underlying condition].
Pneumothorax
Unstable cardiovascular status [as forced expiratory maneuvre may
worsen angina or causes changes in blood pressure] or recent
myocardial infarction or pulmonary embolus.
ï?· Thoracic, abdominal or cerebral aneurysms [danger of rupture due to
increased thoracic pressure].
ï?· Recent eye surgery[e.g. cataract].
ï?· Presence of acute disease process that might interfere with the test performance [e.g. nausea, vomiting].
ï?· Recent surgery of thorax or abdomen.
