Inclusion Criteria

a.Individuals aged from 25 to 70 years will be included.

b.Patients with type 2 diabetes were included if they presented with a history of type 2 DM for the past 1 year or more and treated with oral hypoglycemic drugs (Dog?an et al., 2016). The glycemic status was evaluated using HbA1c, based on the American Diabetic Association classification 2021 for diagnosis of type 2 diabetes.

c.Patient with generalized Chronic Periodontitis, exhibiting probing pocket depth of =4mm and clinical attachment level (CAL) of =3mm in more than 30% of diseased sites with a minimum of 15 teeth (according to the American Academy of Periodontology 2018 World Workshop classification of periodontal diseases).

Exclusion Criteria

a.Systemic conditions influencing the course of periodontal disease other than type 2 diabetes.

b.Patients with a history of periodontal treatment within the previous 6 months.

c.Patients under antimicrobial therapy, immunosuppressant, or anti-inflammatory drugs within the past 3 months.

d. Patients with habit of smoking and alcoholism.

e.Pregnant and lactating women
