Major Depressive Disorder
Major acute psychiatric diseases other than current episode of depressive or mood disorder (for example sleep disorder, psychosis, substance misuse or dependency).
Major neurological or other somatic diseases including ischemic or haemorrhagic insults within the subject’s history as well as endocrinologic diseases like thyroid dysfunction, hypercortisolism or adrenal dysfunction.
Febrile illness within 3 days before study participation.
Severe cognitive impairments and IQ < 70 as estimated by the Mehrfachwahlwortschatztest (MWT-B; Lehrl, 1989).

Name Time Method Change in Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II) scores from visit 1 to visit 5 <br>Time points: visit 1 : Baseline , visit 5 : After the intervention , visit 6 : one week after visit 5
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Change in BDI-Scores at follow-up (one week post training, Visit 5 to Visit 6). <br>The following secondary outcome measures will be assessed for change between visit 1 and visit 5 and between visit 5 and visit 6: <br>Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD), <br>State Trait Anxiety Scale (STAI), <br>Autobiographical memory (Life Events Questionnaire), <br>Rumination Questionnaire (Response Style Questionnaire), <br>The following secondary outcome measures will be assessed at visit 1 in order to be used as covariates in assessments of treatment changes between visit 1 and visit 5 and visit 5 and visit 6: <br>Cognitive Screening (Syndrom-Kurz-Test, SKT), <br>Estimate of premorbid IQ (Mehrfachwahl Wortschatztests, MWT-B) <br>
