Inclusion Criteria

(1)Age > 35 years and < 60 years (age 20-30 years for comparison)

(2)Either gender

(3)Agreeing to give informed consent

Exclusion Criteria

Participants with

(1)History of conditions that contraindicates spirometry like hemoptysis, Pneumothorax, recent myocardial infarction, pulmonary embolism & thoracic/abdominal/ocular surgical procedure (within past 3 months), aneurysm (cerebral, abdominal, thoracic), glaucoma, undiagnosed hypertension

(2)History of acute/chronic condition affecting the performance (nausea/vomiting, any painful condition affecting mouth, facial palsy etc.) of spirometry

(3)History of current infectious airway disease(s) including upper/lower respiratory tract infection and pulmonary tuberculosis

(4)History of acute exacerbation of asthma and/or COPD

(5)History of smoking in the past 3 month

(6)Body mass index > 30 kg/m2

(7)Pregnancy

(8)History of taking antioxidant medicine supplementation at least for last 15 days

(9)History of daily intake of Amla fruit/its derivative(s) or citrus fruits in an amount accounting daily vitamin C consumption >60 mg, at least for previous 15 days

(10)History of taking medications interfering with absorption or action of vitamin C

(11)History of allergy with food/drug containing vitamin C
