Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • •1\. Written informed consent
  • •2\. Physician\-confirmed diagnosis of COPD (spirometry) (FEV1 \= 80% predicted)
  • •3\. Smoking history: Min. 10 packyears

Exclusion Criteria

  • •1\.Inability to understand the nature, scope, and possible consequences of the study
  • •2\. Life expectancy of less than 12 months
  • •3\. Newly diagnosed active pulmonary tuberculosis within the last 12 months
  • •4\. Unstable cardiopulmonary or metabolic co\-morbidities
  • •5\. Macrolide maintenance treatment
