Fourty patients with dementia volunteered to participate in the present study. The inclusion criteria for participation were as follows: (1) 65 years of age or older, (2) have a medical diagnosis of dementia according to the criteria of the hospital, (3) have a score of 21 or less in the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) (Folstein, Folstein & McHugh, 1975), (4) be able to ambulate with minimal assistance, and provide informed consent, either by resident or guardian. The exclusion criteria were as follows: any uncontrolled health conditions for which exercise in contraindicated. All participants were informed about the tests and the use of the results, and were asked to sign a written statement in which they formally consented to the inclusion of the study. The study was approved by the Woosuk Univeresity institutional review board
The exclusion criteria were: 1) having medically unstable or uncontrolled health conditions , 2) having cardiopulmonary disease and 3) psychiatric disease
