1. Patients aged 18 - 60 years of age of either gender
2. ASA physical status I or II
3.Elective cases under general anaesthesia
4.Patients with unanticipated difficult airway ( mallampatti score 1 and 2 )
1. Patients on beta-blockers, alpha-2 agonists or any other cardiac medications
2. Patients with known history of allergy to the study drugs
3.Pregnant and lactating patients
4.ASA grade III and IV
5.Unwilling patients
6.Preoperative ECG changes such as arrhythmias, bradycardia (HR <50)
7.Patients with anticipated difficult airway i.e. Mallampati class III & IV, mouth opening less than two finger breadth, restricted neck extension, cervical spondylosis
8.More than 1 attempt to intubate patients
